Are you in pursuit of happiness?
If you are in pursuit of happiness, I guess you have not found it yet.
Is happiness a worthwhile and meaningful pursuit?
My answer is a definite 'Yes'
Happiness may seems like something elusive for most of us as we tell ourselves that we can't be happy until we get what we want. Most of us belong to this category whereby we are in constant pursuit of some things in order to be happy. We have needs and wants but most of us have a long list of 'wants'. If happiness is about processions, then those people who have plenty should be the happiest people on planet earth. This doesn’t seems to be the case as Singapore was ranked 25th out of 156 countries in 2023 study in the Happy Planet Index. Finland ranked on the top of the World Happiness Rank List 2023 and it has been holding its position at the top for more than 10 years. Singapore was ranked top in many other areas but ranked low in happiness, however Singapore has improved its ranking over the years.
The index measures how governments from around the world provide long, happy and sustainable lives for their people, based on three factors: life expectancy, happiness and environmental sustainability. For more information on how the Happy Planet Index is calculated.
How would you react if someone comes along and tell you that happiness is in you, you already have it, it is a choice you make daily to be happy?
- Disbelief as it sounds like too simple concept!
- Do you mean that it in me then why I’m not happy now?
- I’m already happy, can I be happier?
If you find that ‘to be happy now’ or ‘happy for no reason’ is an interesting
concept worth exploring.
